My boyfriend and I are thinking of getting World of Warcraft and playing together but I’ve been reading all sort of bad stuff.
Anyone out there play? Do you feel it is life consuming and grossly addictive? Also, what type of equipment should we get to play? (already have a beefy pc) Also, what is the monthly cost in US dollars?

Well, you’re in a better situation if you’re looking to play together. Most arguments spawn from one person in the relationship playing and the other not.
I will give you the best advice ever in the history of couples’ gaming:
Make Sure You Have Two Computers.
The most arguments I’ve ever had with a significant other spawned from 1 computer and us both playing WoW. We would argue about who had more time on WoW, we rarely went out because either one of us or the other was scheduled for a raid/instance/other, and we would both feel ignored while the other person was playing. Neither one of us was living healthy or in moderation with the game at the time.
Honestly, if we were able to actually and truly play -together- (not one at a time) the way we planned to, I think it would have helped life together immensely.
I play WoW with my S.O. now (among many other computer games), and we have dual computers for each house we’re at. It is way more fun and interesting that way.
The system requirements on WoW really aren’t that steep, so it shouldn’t require a huge financial investment.
If you both grab the Battle Chest, you’ll be looking at about $80 total for WoW and BC for Each of you.
Subscription Costs are between $13USD and $15USD depending on how many months you sign up for at a time.
It all depends on the type of gamer you are. I use to play all the time when it was new, then after the “newness” dwindled down i played less and less, now I play at a certain time for about 3 hours every other day.
But for others it can become super addictive, which is really sad in all honesty. If youre gunna play together I would advise to actually PLAY together, like always be on at the same time so one doesnt become obsessed with leveling to get the good mounts and what not.
I couldnt tell you what type of equip to rock, I’m nerdy but I’m not THAT nerdy. here all the diff subscripts you can get
$14.99 USD – One Month Recurring
$41.97 USD – Three Months Recurring ($13.99 per month)
$77.94 USD – Six Months Recurring ($12.99 per month)
Or the $30 Game Card for 60 Days
if you don’t plan on playing that much I would advise for the game card, its covers 2 months and you wont have to pay such big bucks if you have to stop playing for long periods of time. *Like 2 months because of the blue screen of death….*
yea im 13 and i started playing on my bros laptop. but i couldnt stop playing it was so bad i dreamed about it! ahhhhh. anyway im grounded and cant play till summer cuz it took my mind off of school… :p
It can control your life and has been known to be at the root of some divorces.
What I notice with couples that play is that sometimes they will stop communicating and when there is a problem in the relationship they won’t talk it out, they will just play WOW
For me, I limit the amount of Time I play, I can play for a few hours on the weekend but, only if my housework is done first. If ANYONE calls asking to do something, then ANYONE trumps WOW.
Monthly the cost is 15.00 unless you both have computers and want your own accounts so you can play together. Then your monthly cost will be pushed up to 30.00
Also remember you have to buy the software as well.
If you want to play together then make sure you are on the same side and you might want to consider same race as different races start in different places.
Dwarf/Gnome and Humans are easy to play together because, to get from teh Dwarf starting area to the human starting area you don’t have to go through a lot fo high level areas.
Night elf and Dranei (If you get burning crusades) also have starting areas that are resonably close and you don’t have to go through high level areas to get to them.
But, Dwarf/Gnome and Night Elf…to play from start on these one of you will have to go through some higher level areas to get to the other’s beginning area. Not impossible, just harder to get to.
it can b addictive if u let it control ur life……..and ive heard a saying:”time u enjoy wasting is not wasted”…..the monthly cost is 15 but well worth it
WoW is a great most of the people who say bad parts about it just sya that because they are too cheap to want to pay the monthly fee or they can’t interact with otehr people online
btw its 15 us dollars a month
The game is good but could get you addicted and i just can’t get myself to pay up 25$ every month for a game. Get guild wars (an MMORPG) instead its really nice and has no monthly pay.
I find W.o.W somewhat addictive but overall you get tired after a few hours of play and stop to take a few hours break. Also, it only costs $15 a month out of credit card. Or you can buy time cards which you enter codes off of onto their website. These time cards last two months and costs around $30.
Hey there!
Im a former player and those rumors with it being really addicting is true and it takes a long long time to get to the cap levels. I got level 70 and i was bored, nothing to do but kill! Also its gonna cost you at least, at least 170 dollars a year if u get the 6 month 12 dollar plan.
If you insist on playing this game then i suggest looking up a 600 gig or more pc because all the memory and stuff, man it took 200 for my pc and i own at 500 gig. If you want to get serious i also suggest buying a good microphone set to communicate with other players. Also buy a really, really comfortable chair, youll be playing hours.
Any other questions? Email me
Of course it is addicting just like any other video game. The only catch to World of Warcraft is, the higher level you get, the more time that must be spent to reach the next. All the way from 1 to 70.
So the answer is yes addictive, grossly addictive? No. More time consuming than addictive though.
On the equipment, you just need a computer with at least 512mb ram, 2ghz+ processor and a pretty good video card.
The cost is $14.99/month per account. Blizzard also have package deals.
You guys should try it. My fiance and I play everyday after work together on two seperate accounts. It’s a good way to spend our free time together.
If you can moderate how much you play then it is rather enjoyable.
Yes, it is a very fun game. The best deal is $72 for 6 months. As for addictive, it can be, but doesn’t have to. If you play for hours a day, like most people, you will most likely get addicted to it. It becomes hard to get off, and you stop feeling tired when you’re playing. However, if you only play for maybe an hour or two a night, you won’t level very fast, or really enjoy many of the games features that can take a few hours, you can still enjoy it while not getting addicted. In my opinion though, limiting your playing time is kind of wasting your money.
